Historic Wall Razed To The Ground…

Derbyshire County Council is just applying for planning permission to take down a 7m stretch of the Grade II listed wall which runs alongside the school. As you can probably see, the wall was down a long time before permission was sought.

No doubt Derbyshire CC will be making sure the wall goes back in a pristine condition using lime mortar (and not concrete). Also, that a reputable stone mason is sought to re-carve the coping stones which were smashed when the Grade II listed wall was pulled down.

As usual, the Barlborough Sith Labour Party had their eye off the wall ball again. They should have been campaignig to retain the historic wall and not to keep Barlborough village green. The village green was never under threat. While they were campaigning to ‘Keep Barlborough Green’ the wall was being razed to the ground…
