Dunmar Investments has submitted a planning application for a health club on Ash Close. To view the application click here. There is also an application in for advertising consent for an illuminated sign for ‘Go Fitness’. Go Fitness is a company which doesn’t seem to exist yet. Dunmar has recently adverted for ‘expressions of interest’ from operators to enter into a new lease for the Barlborough Health and Fitness club.
The banking which surrounds the proposed development should have been planted up with trees and shrubs to screen the houses and shops on Ash Close – this was part of the original planning consent. In June 2006 an application was submitted to change the planning conditions. It was claimed that planting up the banking would destabilise it. Our view is that the necessary measures should be taken to stabilise the bank and plant it up. It improves the visual amenity, gives the houses down on Ash Close some privacy, acts as a noise reduction measure and contributes to negating some of the effects of the pollution in this area.
