Charity Effort In Full Bloom
Green fingered villagers have been celebrating raising cash for a cancer charity and brightening up their neighbourhood with blossoming daffodils. The Friends of Barlborough in Bloom held a fund-raiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care with cash donations and daffodil planting at its Slayley Green park and the village is now reaping the rewards. Group chairman Marion Glazier said: “We’re delighted with the result and we’ve received so many wonderful comments.” The group has been planting daffodils with residents and raising money as part of the Marie Curie Field of Hope appeal for the past four years and its latest efforts helped raise £400 for the charity.
Dobbies Garden World, at Barlborough Links, supported the appeal with daffodil bulb donations. Manager Brian Parker said: “I’m pleased with the results of this fantastic project and it’s fabulous to see all the daffodils in bloom this spring.”
