Fly Posting – Wasting Time, Effort and Money When It Should Just Be Removed…

Bolsover could take a leaf out of Sheffield City Council’s book and remove fly posting on regular street cleaning visits. In contrast to Sheffield (and other authorities), Bolsover waste time, effort and money trying to track down the owners of the fly posting in an effort to get them to remove it…
Sheffield City Council’s policy ‘Flyposting is pasted or tied posters advertising an event displayed on property where the owners have not given permission.  Any posters displayed without permission within the highway (the highway is the area from the back line of the footpath, across the carriageway to the back line at the other side) are illegal.
Posters can be dangerous if they distract drivers and pedestrians and block the sight line for traffic.  Plastic ties left when posters are removed can also be dangerous. We will remove flyposters from the highway on our regular Street Cleaning visits. Any flyposters that are larger than A4 we remove will be retained at our Olive Grove Depot for one month.  If they are your posters you can call and collect them, otherwise after one month they will be destroyed.’
