While Natascha Engel MP for NE Derbyshire has published all of her expense claims, our MP Dennis Skinner is refusing to release his saying they will be in the public domain soon enough. While he states that he hasn’t claimed a penny in mortgage payments, the taxpayer bought him a car in 2007 for £5,669. In 2008, he claimed £5,772 ‘for regular journeys between home, constituency and Westminster.’ Click here to view our MP’s expenses.
While Dennis is one of the low spending MP’s, he doesn’t feature as one of the ‘saints’ in the Telegraph’s round up of ‘saints and sinners.’ The saints chose instead to fund travel out of their basic allowance, in very much the same way as ordinary people pay out of their salary to get to work and back. Room for improvement then Dennis.
