Move to recruit more walkers
Walking group members who have just completed a Teversal Trail trek are appealing for new members to join their club. The Clowne and Barlborough Walking for Health Group has been set up with support from the Government-backed Walking the Way to Health initiative with trained volunteer leaders. Group co-ordinator Richard Spencer said: “We’ve a programme suitable for those with heart problems or diabetes and for those who simply enjoy the companionship of other walkers. “The main benefits are improving health, strengthening heart, bones and muscles, easing arthritis, reducing stress and having fun.” Clowne and Barlborough Walking Group, which meets at beauty therapists Serenity, on Rectory Road, Clowne, completed the Teversal Trail this month. The group holds three walks every month including one further afield with a community bus trip.
Anyone interested in joining the group and checking meeting times for up-and-coming walks is urged to call Mr Spencer on (01246) 819365 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
