[Reference: C3259 card skimming 25/2/11]
A suspected scanning device was found on a Staveley bank ATM on Thursday 24th February. Make sure you cover the keypad when entering your PIN & never tell anyone your number, or write it down on paper & have it with the card.
Also look out for anything that appears out of the ordinary where the card is inserted. ‘Skimming’ devices record the magnetic strip on the back of your card & when used in conjunction with your PIN can be used to access your account.
These types of crimes are very rare & it only takes a small degree of vigilance to greatly reduce the risk of having your bank card cloned.
