Ozbox co-ordinator PC Darren Comins with tutor Matt Newbould and the youngsters who were given special achievement awards. Uniformed Public Services students in Chesterfield have been awarded certificates after completing a six-week course in Derbyshire Constabulary’s Ozbox scheme.
Teenagers enrolled on the course were presented with certificates at Chesterfield College on Wednesday, March 23 after taking part in the weekly boxing-based fitness sessions.
Five pupils were given extra awards for outstanding work during the course at Chesterfield Police Station.
The youngsters took part to find out more about the different ways public services offer something back to the community. Many of the students are going on further training courses to allow them to become Ozbox mentors in their communities.
Ozbox is a free fitness programme for youngsters aged nine to 19 which combines circuit training and boxing skills to improve confidence and reduce anti-social behaviour.
