Worksop woman catches fourth floor fall tot
An heroic Worksop tourist who caught a baby after it fell from the fourth floor of a Florida hotel, has been described as an ‘angel’ by the tot’s mum. Worksop resident Helen Beard, 44, from Park Street, was by the pool at Orlando’s Econa Lodge when she saw the baby dangling from the balcony.

The NHS boss leapt into action and caught 16-month-old Jah-Nea Myles, who had slipped through the railings and reportedly hit the third floor balcony as she plummeted to the ground on Wednesday evening.

Miraculously, the baby escaped without even a bruise. Lucy Apostol, 31, has lived next door to Mrs Beard for the past 12 years. She said: “We’re really proud of her, it’s amazing when you think about it.” “She is a very caring person and always very family orientated.” Jah-Nea was said to be playful despite the ordeal, and her 20-year-old mother Helena said: “I’m thanking the Lord above right now for saving my child’s life.”

“I’m also thanking that lady because she was an angel sent from Heaven.” A spokesman for Orange County Sheriff’s Office described it as a ‘miracle’.
