Fatal Collision At Staveley

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road collision in Staveley. At approximately 11.30am Friday May 20, a blue Hyundai Tucson collided with a lamp post on the A619 Worksop Road, Staveley near its junction with Norbriggs Road outside Woodthorpe Primary School.

The elderly male driver of the car sustained serious head injuries in the collision and was taken by ambulance to hospital in Chesterfield. Sadly he was certified dead on arrival. The road was closed until 2.40pm.

Road policing officers have begun an investigation into the causes of the collision and would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened. Anyone who has information which they believe may assist the investigation is asked to ring the witness appeal line on 01773 572929.
