Police On-Line Dog Surgery

Derbyshire police are giving people the chance to find out more about the force dog section through an on-line surgery. The special virtual surgery will give people the opportunity to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the unit, which consists of 17 German shepherds, springer spaniels and Labradors and their 20 handlers.

By logging onto the surgery section of the police website wwww.derbyshire.police.uk, people can speak to a dog handler between 7pm and 8pm on Tuesday, June 7. Derbyshire police have hosted several virtual surgeries recently, including one about roads policing officers, domestic violence and the helicopter unit, but this is the first time the dog unit will feature.

Web manager Ben Sherwin said: “The surgeries are a new venture for the force but they have been well-received. “In pervious surgeries, questions have been taken from people in Germany about the helicopter and children as young as four logged on to ask about traffic officers.”
